Subterranean blind fish (Bangana musaei). From the carp family of fish, and measuring 7.7cm, this species was found in the Xe Bangfai catchment, a Mekong tributary in central Laos that runs 7km underground through limestone karst. Bangana musaei was found in “Grotte des Nuages” and “Tham Pong” caves. Because of its subterranean nature, this fish is totally blind.

Fossils of a new species of a giant salamander-like predator date from a time when amphibians were big and scary.
The fossils, estimated to be over 220 million years old, came from an ancient lake bed in Portugal, says Steve Brusatte of the University of Edinburgh. Brusatte and his colleagues suggest that the bones belong to a new species — Metoposaurus algarvensis — of what are called temnospondyl amphibians. Distant relatives of today’s mostly small and cute salamanders, frogs and newts, the Triassic beasts lived much like modern fish-eating crocodiles and included species up to 9 meters long.
The M. algarvensis, which could grow 2 meters long, had a flattened skull with abundant little teeth, Brusatte and colleagues report online March 23 in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology. The head must have looked a bit like a toilet seat with the lid down when the jaws closed, he says.
Such predators were a common “part of the fabric of that weird world when the continents were joined together as one, temperatures were blasting hot and the first dinosaurs were getting their start,” Brusatte says. These monster amphibians perished in a mass extinction about 201 million years ago, when the joined continents split apart. And with a few exceptions, the meek amphibians inherited the Earth.

Turtles are basically reptiles. They are characterized by a shell that develops from their ribs and serve as a protective cover. The earliest known turtles date back to around 215 million years and are therefore considered to be the oldest members of the reptile family. The largest of turtles are aquatic though they do not lay eggs under water. They do breath under water though. When threatened these beautiful creatures can envelop inside their shells however, if rolled over they are very vulnerable.

Clownfish are one of the most popular aquarium species and also considered as one of most beautiful fish in the world; up to 43% of the marine ornamentals sold are clownfish. Around 25% of these are bred in captivity. Clownfish have a very unusual biology, and their sex can actually shift between male and female. They also form colonies and care for their young. The male actually guards the eggs, which in the wild are laid on a sea anemone, a creature the fish protects. Experts believe that successful breeding of clownfish will be necessary for this species to survive in the wild.

The beluga sturgeon in Russia is the largest freshwater fish in the world. This massive fish can reach over 15 feet long and weigh upwards of 2,500 pounds. The largest recorded beluga sturgeon was almost 20 feet long and over 7,000 pounds. These fish also have a long lifespan, living to 100 years and older.
Beluga sturgeon are euryhaline, meaning they can swim freely between salt and fresh water. Humans consider their eggs a delicacy and have overfished these massive monster-sized fish to get them, leaving the beluga sturgeon endangered with little chance of survival. Beluga sturgeon eggs are the most prized and rare type of caviar, favored for the delicate skin, but due to the endangered status of the fish, beluga sturgeon caviar is illegal in the United States.
We have highlighted the biggest freshwater fish in the world in this list, but there are plenty more for you to discover. Next time you are swimming in a lake, river, stream or pond, take a peak under the water and see what lurks beneath you.
The yellow anaconda is the second largest type of anacondas in the world. An adult yellow anaconda has a length between 10 and 15 feet and weighs up to 60 kg.
Yellow anacondas are endemic to South America. They inhabit in swamps, marshes and rivers. This big snake is a non-venomous member of boa snake family.
Yellow anacondas have very attractive yellow skin with black spots. So that they can hide in murky waters of rivers or swamps.
The yellow anacondas are a strictly solitary snake and gather together only for mating.
Yellow anacondas are ambush hunter, that is they wait for the prey to pass by and will make a sudden attack. After catching the prey, they coil around it and constrict to death. The diet of yellow anacondas consists of deer, peccaries, caimans, fishes and turtles.

HIV or Human Immunodeficiency:
HIV is a virus of the family Retroviridae and genus Lentivirus. There are two types of HIV: HIV-1 and HIV-2 that have only partial sequence homologies. HIV-2 is closer to SIV, the AIDS virus of the apes than is HIV-1. The majority of HIV-positive people carry the HIV-1 type.
The viral particle of 150 nanometers in diameter contains two copies of its RNA genome, 9.200 nucleotides long, encoding 19 proteins. The viral particle is itself surrounded by a lipid membrane originating from the host cell. Viral proteins are inserted into the membrane, similar to gp120, which serves as anchorage protein on the host cell.
